Flexibility through Common Courses

The undergraduate degrees offered by our department – business informatics and computer science – share a common set of core courses.

All majors require Software and Systems Architecture, Programming I, Programming II, Systems Analysis and Design, Database Design, and Networking and Virtualization.

Our curricula were designed around common courses to allow students who want a computing-related major to begin taking the core courses without having to first decide on major. It also gives students who decide to change majors the flexibility to move into a different computing major without losing credit hours that apply toward their degree.

The diagram below shows the courses that are common among business informatics and computer science.
